R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, May 19, 2005, is the 40th birthday of David Christopher Swinford of North Richland Hills, marking a memorable milestone in a life rich with achievement; and WHEREAS, Born in Lubbock, this notable Texan grew up in Dumas with a loving family that includes his parents, Joyce and David Swinford and his sister, Melissa Bates; as a youngster, he enjoyed playing football and Little League baseball, and was active in his high school band and the First Street Church of Christ; he also worked after school and in the summer months at his family's grain elevator, and discovered early on that he didn't want to make such employment his life's work; and WHEREAS, Named president of his FFA chapter and outstanding senior while still in high school, he raised and showed livestock in his hometown as well as in Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston; and WHEREAS, After graduation, Mr. Swinford attended Lubbock Christian University, where he participated in debate, livestock judging, and chorus, and was a member of Alpha Chi Delta, an organization he served as chaplain and master follies director; majoring in communications and minoring in Bible, he earned his bachelor's degree in December 1986, furthered his studies at Sunset International Bible Institute, and obtained a master's degree in Christian counseling psychology; and WHEREAS, Through the years this esteemed man has led churches in the Texas communities of Happy and Shamrock, as well as in Portales, New Mexico; he has worked as a missionary in Ukraine, teaching students at the Ukrainian Bible Institute, and is currently an associate minister at College Hill Church of Christ in North Richland Hills; in addition, he has coached basketball, soccer, and baseball, and enjoys teaching and coaching softball at Fort Worth Christian High School; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Swinford has enjoyed the support of his beloved wife, Brenda, and his sons, Alan and Daniel; and WHEREAS, On his birthday and every day, Chris Swinford may reflect with pride on the countless ways he continues to brighten the lives of those around him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate David Christopher Swinford on the occasion of his 40th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Swinford as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
