R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, For more than 25 years, Anna Bernice Owens of La 
Feria has been a popular columnist and feature writer for the 
community weekly newspaper, La Feria News, and she recently was 
honored by La Feria Mayor Carlos Cantu and the La Feria News owners 
and staff for her contributions to the community, her achievements 
in journalism, and her 86th birthday; and
	WHEREAS, Born in Indiana, Mrs. Owens discovered her love of 
writing when she served as editor of her high school newspaper; she 
moved to the Rio Grande Valley with her husband, Joseph E. Owens, in 
1970, and she currently writes about her extensive travels around 
the world, in addition to sharing local news and handy tips; and
	WHEREAS, With a loyal readership, Mrs. Owens has earned the 
respect and admiration of her peers and colleagues, who undoubtedly 
admire her strong spirit, boundless energy, and dedication to 
journalism, and it is a privilege to join them in recognizing her 
exceptional career; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby commend Anna Bernice Owens for her contributions 
to the vitality of the La Feria community and extend to her sincere 
best wishes for continued success and fulfillment; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mrs. Owens as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
