R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Reverend Daryl R. Carter of Carver Heights Baptist Church in Dallas is celebrating his first pastoral anniversary at the church, and this occasion offers a fitting opportunity to recognize this esteemed gentleman; and WHEREAS, A Dallas native, Reverend Carter graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1977 before serving in the U.S. Army as a radio communications repairman; continuing his education following his military service, he received an associate's degree in applied arts and science from Mountain View College in 1985; and WHEREAS, Today, Reverend Carter holds a bachelor's degree in theology from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, and he is currently pursuing a master's degree in divinity; long affiliated with the church he now leads, he has been an active member of Carver Heights Baptist Church for a number of years and was ordained as a deacon in 1996; and WHEREAS, A talented businessman as well as a man of great faith, Reverend Carter has excelled in several independent business ventures; in all his endeavors, he demonstrates strength of character and generosity of spirit, and he has earned a well-deserved reputation as a role model for young and old alike; and WHEREAS, Reverend Carter delivered his first sermon at Carver Heights in March 1997; just two years later, he was named assistant to the pastor, a position he embraced until his election as co-pastor in June 2002; he assumed the pastorship shortly thereafter, when his father, the late Reverend Tyler Carter, stepped down from his duties due to poor health; and WHEREAS, Together with his wife, Brenda, the Reverend Daryl Carter has gained the respect and admiration of a devoted congregation; his tenure as pastor has been a blessing to these faithful souls, who look forward with anticipation to his continued leadership of the congregation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Daryl Carter on the occasion of his first anniversary as pastor of Carver Heights Baptist Church and extend best wishes to him for many more years of success and fulfillment in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Reverend Carter as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
