R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Whitney Smith-Nelson celebrated a significant milestone in her life on May 14, 2005, when she graduated magna cum laude from Stephen F. Austin State University; and WHEREAS, Ms. Smith-Nelson has shown initiative, leadership, and a determination to succeed during her collegiate career; she is an Anne Bradshaw Stoke scholarship recipient and has been named to the Dean's List and the President's List while completing her fine arts degree in theater with a minor in dance; and WHEREAS, During the past four years, this notable young woman has worked on a host of theater productions, holding the positions of company manager, stage manager, director, assistant director, choreographer, makeup designer, and props master, and she also has had experience on technical crews; in addition, she has lent her time to Alpha Psi Omega, which she has served as treasurer; and WHEREAS, In recognition of her impressive achievements and abilities, the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has awarded her an internship beginning in July 2005; and WHEREAS, Whitney Smith-Nelson has demonstrated exemplary dedication in attaining her college degree; her energy, enthusiasm, and perseverance typify the finest qualities of young Texans, and her noteworthy achievement indeed merits special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Whitney Smith-Nelson on her graduation from Stephen F. Austin State University and extend to her best wishes for continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Smith-Nelson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
