H.R. No. 1840
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well-lived may
temper the profound sadness that the death of Patricia Lewis Zoch
Tate, on February 28, 2005, brings to her family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Born to Elizabeth Kercheville and Frank Peter Zoch,
Jr., on May 7, 1934, Mrs. Tate was raised in Corpus Christi and
attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member
of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, and graduated from Finch College in
New York; and
WHEREAS, She was married to Belton Kleberg Johnson, with whom
she made a home at Chaparrosa Ranch in La Pryor and reared three
children, Sarah Pitt, Cecilia McMurrey, and Belton Kleberg Johnson,
Jr.; she later moved to San Antonio and married John Howard Ferguson
III, who preceded her in death; and
WHEREAS, A woman of diverse interests and talents, Mrs. Tate
enjoyed writing poetry, painting, playing golf, quail hunting in
South Texas, and pheasant shooting in Scotland; she was a valued
member of Club Giraud, the San Antonio Country Club, the Argyle
Club, and the Valley Club of Sun Valley; and
WHEREAS, Beloved wife of Royce D. Tate, Patsy Tate lived a
full and event-filled life, and the memories of many joyful times
and loving moments may comfort all those who were blessed to know
her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Patricia Lewis Zoch
Tate and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to
her husband, Royce D. Tate; to her daughters, Sarah Pitt and her
husband, Steve, and Cecilia McMurrey and her husband, Mark; to her
daughter-in-law, Cecilia Hager and her husband, George; to her
grandchildren, Sarita Pitt, Allegra Pitt, Stephen Pitt, Jr., Alice
Johnson, Henry Kley Johnson, and Harry, Belton, and Estella
McMurrey; to her sister, Fran Fulton and her husband, Joe; to her
sister-in-law, Mimi Zoch; to her stepchildren, Carter and Celia
Tate, Lula and Jonathan Martin, and Elizabeth Tate Fitzpatrick; and
to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Patricia
Lewis Zoch Tate.
