R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Nine decades of joyful times and meaningful accomplishments are truly reason for celebration, and on May 19, 2005, Bob Adkisson of Wills Point marked this significant milestone in his life; and WHEREAS, Born on May 19, 1915, he is a veteran of the U.S. Navy whose service during World War II took him to New Orleans, Philadelphia, New York, Virginia, Pearl Harbor, and Okinawa; assigned the rank of ensign at the time he answered this nation's call to arms, he was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of lieutenant; and WHEREAS, Mr. Adkisson and his wife, Frances, enjoyed an enduring union that spanned 45 years until her passing; today, he enjoys the love and affection of a fine family that includes his daughter, Laurie, and two grandsons, Will and Carson; and WHEREAS, Except for the years he devoted to serving his country, Mr. Adkisson was employed in sales and management with Sears from 1936 until his well-deserved retirement in 1977; moreover, this Paul Harris Fellow has been involved in Rotary International for 21 years through clubs in Athens, Waxahachie, and Wills Point, and he was honored as Rotarian of the Year in 1994 and in 2004; and WHEREAS, The birthday of Bob Adkisson provides a fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed Texan, who continues to contribute to his community and brighten the lives of all who know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby warmly congratulate Bob Adkisson on his 90th birthday and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
