R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jennifer Elswood of Girl Scout Troop 45 in San Antonio has received the Girl Scout Gold Award, the organization's highest commendation; and WHEREAS, To achieve this award, a girl must meet requirements that promote community service, personal growth, positive values, and leadership skills, and she must plan and implement a special Girl Scout Gold Award project of at least 50 work hours that meets a need in her community; and WHEREAS, Ms. Elswood coordinated a work day to benefit the San Antonio chapter of Threads of Love, a nonprofit, nondenominational ministry whose volunteers produce and distribute clothing and care items to premature babies in local hospitals and care centers; individuals recruited by Ms. Elswood created blankets, bean bags used as positioning aides, and lovie dolls; and WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan is the daughter of David and Karen Elswood, who take great pride in all her accomplishments; and WHEREAS, The maturity, dedication, and initiative that Jennifer Elswood has exhibited in pursuit of her goals are noteworthy, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring her for her recent achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jennifer Elswood on attaining the Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for happiness and good fortune in the coming years; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Elswood as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
