R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Aguilar's Meat Market and
the Aguilar family have rendered outstanding public service to the
people of Edinburg; and
WHEREAS, The market was opened in October 1983 by Irineo
"Eddie" Aguilar, Sr., with the whole-hearted support of his wife,
Elida, and their young family; Mr. Aguilar passed away in 1992, and
the market is now directed by his son and daughter, Eddie Aguilar,
Jr., and Irma Aguilar, with the assistance of other immediate
family members and an array of nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Carefully trained by Eddie Aguilar, Sr., in all
aspects of the business, those who guide the market today have
continued both the founder's emphasis on customer service and his
vigorous support of projects and programs intended for the
betterment of Edinburg and its citizens; from the earliest days of
the market, the Aguilars have sought out, in particular,
opportunities to support the development of the community's youth;
and
WHEREAS, Aguilar's Meat Market has partnered with school
vocational programs and other organized efforts designed to help
youth become responsible, productive citizens; some youth who began
working at the market through their involvement in those programs
have stayed with the business and are now playing an active role in
its management, while others have gone on to build successful
careers in a variety of other fields; and
WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena has justly recognized
Aguilar's Meat Market and the Aguilar family for the part they have
played in promoting the welfare of Edinburg by authoring this
resolution in their behalf during the Regular Session of the 79th
Texas Legislature; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Aguilar's Meat Market and the Aguilar
family for their significant contributions to the community of
Edinburg and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Aguilar's Meat Market and the Aguilar family as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
