R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Wayne James, a great Texan who is retiring from the association management profession as the most tenured association executive in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, Mr. James has enjoyed more than 47 years of professional endeavors including his role as Executive Director of the Texas Lathing and Plastering Contractors Association (TLPCA) since 1985, as Executive Director of the Texas Bureau for Lathing and Plastering (TBLP), and as Executive Director of the National One Coat Stucco Association (NOCSA) since June 1997; and WHEREAS, He has been a member of the Texas Society of Association Executives for 28 years and received numerous awards including the Distinguished Executive Award in 1995 and was a member of the Board of Directors in 1979-80 and 1990-92; and WHEREAS, He obtained the Certified Association Executive designation after attending the TSAE-CAE study program in 1979; and WHEREAS, He served as President in 1991-92 of the Dallas/Fort Worth Society of Association Executives where an annual award is presented in his name, and he has been a member of the American Society of Association Executives for 30 years and was a member of the original Chairman Round Table in 1978; and WHEREAS, He was the Executive Director of the Texas Tech University Ex-Students' Association when it was named one of the two alumni associations in the nation to receive the Award for Comprehensive Program Excellence by the American Alumni Council; and WHEREAS, He served on the National Board of Directors of the American Alumni Council, was National Membership Chairman, as well as Regional Membership Chairman; and WHEREAS, He has been admired for his civic leadership, his business acumen, and his service to others throughout his distinguished career; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature commend Mr. Wayne James on his retirement as an Association Executive and for the 48 years of service he given in the association management profession; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. James and his family as an expression of high regard from the Texas House of Representatives.
