R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Deborah Bell of Gilmer has been named a winner in the 2005 Johnson & Johnson Remarkable Women awards; and WHEREAS, A nurse practitioner and true humanitarian, Mrs. Bell is a cofounder of Refuge International, a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of those in areas where health care, adequate nutrition, clean water, and education are lacking or nonexistent; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bell had worked more than 20 years as a nurse when a medical mission trip to Guatemala inspired her to further pursue charitable endeavors; since that time, her devoted efforts have helped countless people in need; and WHEREAS, This University of Texas at Tyler graduate and former faculty member was selected from 1,300 nominees to be one of four 2005 Remarkable Women; in addition to a $5,000 cash prize, she earned a trip to New York City, where she appeared on the ABC morning talk show, The View; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bell is a woman of true generosity, kindness, and commitment, and her contributions in behalf of the less fortunate are truly worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Deborah Bell on being named a winner in the 2005 Johnson & Johnson Remarkable Women awards and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Bell as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
