R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jennifer Joy Medlock of Dallas has been selected as
a recipient of an Outstanding Texan Award in the area of education
by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
WHEREAS, A North Texas State University graduate, Ms. Medlock
is a longtime social studies teacher at W. H. Atwell Middle School
in the Dallas Independent School District and currently serves as
department chair; active in myriad school activities, she has
sponsored Y-Teens, Social Games Club, and UIL for Maps, Charts, and
Graphs and has chaperoned students on tours to Austin, Houston, San
Antonio, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Europe; in 1998, Ms.
Medlock was named the Teacher of the Year at Atwell; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding educator has played an important
role in the community by working with the voter registration drive
each year and by volunteering as a campaign worker, and in 1996, she
served on a special committee evaluating the educational programs
offered in the state's prison system; and
WHEREAS, Jennifer Medlock has truly enhanced the lives of
hundreds of students in Dallas County, and it is a great pleasure to
recognize her at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Jennifer Medlock on being named an
Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend
to her warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Medlock as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
