R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Adam J. Hernandez, a senior at Raymondville High
School, has demonstrated excellence in the sport of track and
field, winning the 2005 state championship in the 800-meter run;
and
WHEREAS, A standout athlete at his school, Mr. Hernandez
finished second in the 800-meter event at the regional competition
and also qualified for the state championship in the 400-meter run
after winning the regional title in that event; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez finished third in the 800 meters at
the 2004 state championships and was the District 32-AAA champion
in the 400 meters for the past three years; moreover, he was a
regional qualifier in the 1,600-meter relay during each of his four
years in high school; and
WHEREAS, In addition to displaying prowess in the sport of
track and field, Mr. Hernandez was a starter on the varsity football
and basketball teams during the past two seasons; his athleticism
has made his tenure in high school all the more memorable, and he
will undoubtedly cherish his state title throughout the years to
come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Adam J. Hernandez on winning gold
in the 800-meter run and his overall impressive performance at the
2005 UIL state track and field championships as well as his
outstanding high school athletic career and extend best wishes to
him for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Hernandez as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
