H.R. No. 1923


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Billie Maurine King Ramsey of Houston on May 7, 2005, at the age of 92, has deeply saddened her family and dear friends, though they may take comfort in remembering many happy times spent with their loved one; and WHEREAS, Born in Silsbee on November 23, 1912, she was a resident of the Bayou City for 65 years and enjoyed a career with Ranger Insurance Company that spanned 25 years; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Ramsey and her husband, Johnnie Zigler Ramsey, Sr., were expecting their fourth child at the time of his untimely passing at the age of 39; a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she raised her children to be responsible, productive members of society with the aid of prayer and hard work, and she was respected and cherished by her family for her many fine attributes, including her faith, optimism, courage, sacrifice, and sense of humor; and WHEREAS, The life of Billie Ramsey was truly a blessing to those individuals fortunate enough to have known her, and the memory of her devotion and kindness will long be held in the hearts of those touched by her presence; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Billie Maurine King Ramsey and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her children and their spouses, Mary Ellen Ramsey Clayton and the Reverend Dr. Harold D. Clayton, Lois Elaine Ramsey Van Wart and C. Donald Van Wart, Carolyn Maurine Ramsey Ferguson and Robert Benjamin Ferguson, and Johnny Zigler Ramsey, Jr.; to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; to her sister, Francis Wood Court; to her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ramsey Brown, Mavis Ramsey Stephenson, and Ouida Ramsey Allen; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Billie Maurine King Ramsey.
