R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Ashlyn Leigh Shoemaker on
April 21, 2005, at the age of 14, has deeply saddened the family and
many friends of this beloved young woman; and
WHEREAS, Born on May 20, 1990, Ashlyn possessed a passion for
life and an engaging personality that drew to her a circle of
diverse and loyal friends who admired her compassion, intelligence,
and beauty; and
WHEREAS, This creative young woman enjoyed karate, singing,
painting, and acting; she also was a talented dancer, surfer, and
writer of prose and poetry, and was known by many for her boundless
enthusiasm and delightful sense of humor; and
WHEREAS, Although it is immeasurably painful to say goodbye
to one so young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember that
while Ashlyn's time here was all too brief, her life profoundly
affected those around her, and her memory will continue to inspire
the countless individuals whose lives she touched; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor the life of Ashlyn Leigh Shoemaker and
extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her mother
and stepfather, Crissy and Joel Helmke; to her father, Steven
Shoemaker; to her grandparents, Don Roventini, Susie Moore, Roy and
Brenda Moore, Mike and Lee Smith, and George and Kathy Helmke; to
her great-grandmother, Nancy Patterson; and to her many other
relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ashlyn
Leigh Shoemaker.
