R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Fred Brook of Pampa on May 6, 2005, at the age of 86, has deeply saddened the family and friends of this fine Texan; and WHEREAS, Mr. Brook was born on April 9, 1919, in Brooklyn, New York; a veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country with distinction during World War II and went on to pursue a notable career as an engineer with Cabot Corporation; and WHEREAS, Married to Virginia Line for more than 45 years until her death, Mr. Brook was fortunate to find love a second time, and on February 14, 1993, he was united in matrimony with Olga Talbert; and WHEREAS, A respected resident of the Pampa community since 1942, he was a former city manager and enjoyed participating in the local Masonic Lodge and Rotary Club, which he had served as president; in addition, this esteemed gentleman attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Khiva Shrine Temple of Amarillo and the Lubbock Scottish Rite Consistory; and WHEREAS, Fred Brook leaves behind a legacy of public service, professional accomplishments, and enriching camaraderie that will not soon be forgotten by those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Fred Brook and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Olga; to his sister, Catherine Griggs; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Fred Brook.
