R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A loving family and a circle of devoted friends cherish the memory of Jo Ellen Allbright Vick, who died on December 21, 2004; and WHEREAS, Born in Artesia, New Mexico, she was the eldest child of George Walter and Ruth Hausselman Allbright; after graduating from Arlington High School, she moved to Alpine in 1967 to attend Sul Ross University and went on to open the popular Lady Bug Salon, which she operated for some 20 years; in 1968, she met and married Walter Vick, and the couple would later become the parents of four cherished sons; and WHEREAS, An active member of the community, Mrs. Vick served as president of the Pilot Club and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and was a valued member of numerous other civic organizations; moreover, this caring woman, even through the most challenging days of her illness, opened her heart and her home to those in need, housing and feeding families of 10 and more, giving away possessions to those in crisis, and truly living her life with compassion and fellowship; and WHEREAS, Jo Vick was a rare person indeed, and although she is deeply missed, she has left behind a legacy of strength, generosity, and passion for life that challenges us all to live with the kind of selfless love and benevolence that she so humbly demonstrated; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jo Ellen Allbright Vick and extend sincere sympathy to her family: to her sons and their wives, Jim, Carla, Jonny, Judy, Jason, Jarrett, and Kelly Vick; to her grandchildren, Jessica, Katie, Kyle, Tyler, Holden, and Carter; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jo Vick.
