R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those young people who pursue their educational goals in the face of daunting obstacles are truly deserving of the admiration of every Texan, and Curtis Duran of San Elizario has distinguished himself as one such individual; and WHEREAS, A participant in the Migrant Student Graduation Enhancement Program of The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Duran has excelled in both scholastic and extracurricular high school activities despite the challenges associated with the migrant experience; and WHEREAS, Mr. Duran is a senior at San Elizario High School, where he has maintained a B average, repeatedly made the honor roll, and earned the school's Leadership Award; in addition, he has completed two semesters of English in the UT Migrant Student Program; and WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Duran enjoys playing the guitar, listening to music, and playing video games; and WHEREAS, The inspiring success of Curtis Duran is a tribute to his dedication and strength of character, assets that will serve him well as he prepares for a career in the field of computer science; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Curtis Duran for his exemplary accomplishments in the Migrant Student Graduation Enhancement Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Duran as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
