H.R. No. 2015



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is indeed reason for 
celebration, and on June 18, 2005, Larry Delbert Jacobs and Dorothy 
Jean LeMarie Jacobs of Beaumont are marking this significant 
milestone in their life together; and
	WHEREAS, Introduced by a friend at a St. Anthony's School 
football game in 1953, the couple met again the following year at 
the beach in Gilchrist; they became engaged in November 1954 and 
were married on June 18, 1955; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs have supported each other over 
the course of five decades of marriage, and their enduring union is 
a source of inspiration to all who know them; the pair are the proud 
parents of five children, Catherine Ann Lee, Mary Cynthia Lipnick, 
Carey Michele Messina, Constance Elizabeth Prejean, and Shannon 
Charles Jacobs, and they have 11 grandchildren and 8 
great-grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, Mrs. Jacobs is a self-described "career wife, 
mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother" who is also an 
especially notable seamstress; Mr. Jacobs, an avid golfer, is a 
veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Mobil Oil after 37 years; 
and
	WHEREAS, Together, this devoted couple have shared the myriad 
blessings and challenges of 50 years as husband and wife, and they 
are truly deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Larry Delbert Jacobs and Dorothy 
Jean LeMarie Jacobs on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to 
them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs as an expression of high regard by 
the Texas House of Representatives.
