H.R. No. 2024


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Louis Patino, D.C., has distinguished himself as a health care practitioner of great skill and compassion, and it is indeed fitting to recognize this remarkable gentleman's many accomplishments; and WHEREAS, Born Pham Long Van in Saigon, Vietnam, Dr. Patino moved to the United States in 1972 with his mother, his stepfather, a U.S. serviceman, and his sister, and he graduated from high school in San Antonio; and WHEREAS, He put himself through college in Austin by working at the Austin State Hospital and at a local grocery store, where he met his future bride; and WHEREAS, On graduating from St. Edward's University with a bachelor's degree in molecular biology, Dr. Patino enlisted in the U.S. Army as a medic, serving in New York for two years; and WHEREAS, After completing his military service, he returned to Texas to continue his studies at Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, where he earned a bachelor's degree in anatomy and became a doctor of chiropractic; and WHEREAS, Dr. Patino began his career in McAllen in 1996, and two years later he opened his own practice in Rio Grande City; his success in this venture may be gauged by the fact that he has treated thousands of area residents and now employs more than 30 skilled workers; and WHEREAS, Throughout his adult life, Dr. Patino has enjoyed the love and support of his wife of 16 years, and he also takes great pride in his four children; and WHEREAS, Dr. Patino's inspiring story demonstrates how much can be achieved through hard work and dedication to a goal, and his success has contributed to freedom from pain and better health for countless people; and WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena and Representative Hubert Vo have justly recognized Dr. Patino by introducing this resolution in his behalf during the Regular Session of the 79th Texas Legislature; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Louis Patino, D.C., for his contributions to the health and well-being of his fellow Texans and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Patino as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
