R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Boy Scouts of America Troop 604 of Houston recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, a momentous occasion that is most deserving of special recognition; and WHEREAS, Established in 1955, Troop 604 has been sponsored by St. Stephen's United Methodist Church throughout its existence; more than 1,000 boys have been proud members of the troop, and 123 of those scouts have earned the prestigious Eagle Scout rank; and WHEREAS, Many people have contributed to the success of Troop 604, including longtime supporters Bill and Mildred Gandin and former scoutmaster Jack Weyand; these esteemed individuals have devoted countless hours to benefiting the scouts of Troop 604, and current scoutmaster John Warfield has continued this positive trend; and WHEREAS, For 50 years, Boy Scouts of America Troop 604 has met the needs of young men in the community, offering opportunities for personal growth and fulfillment, and it is a pleasure to extend best wishes to Troop 604 for continued good fortune and success; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Boy Scouts of America Troop 604 of Houston on its 50th anniversary and commend the many individuals who have worked to support this fine organization during its five decades of service to the community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Boy Scouts of America Troop 604 as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
