                                                                  H.R. No. 2050


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A kind and generous life came to an end with the passing of Leon Anton Sevcik, Jr., of Bryan on May 7, 2005, at the age of 60; and WHEREAS, A native of La Grange, he moved with his family as a child to Galveston, where he attended Kirwin High School, and it was there that this well-rounded young man achieved a perfect attendance record and was a member of the football team that took the state championship in his senior year; and WHEREAS, While in high school, Mr. Sevcik met his future wife, Mardell, whom he married shortly after their graduation in 1963, and they became the parents of three children, Leon "Bubba" Sevcik III, Lisa, and Patrick; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sevcik and his family moved to Bryan in 1969 when he was relocated there by his employer, the Firestone tire company, and three years later he struck out on his own by opening a Texaco service station; and WHEREAS, His reputation for honesty, integrity, and quality service won him many longtime customers and friends, at his first station in Bryan and later at his location in College Station; his service station, run today by his extended family, continues to thrive by carrying forward the traditional principles on which it was built; and WHEREAS, Although Mr. Sevcik's passing has created an absence that cannot be filled, those who were fortunate to call him friend will long remember him for his pride in his Czech heritage, his inspiring patriotism, his strong faith, and his genuine love of family and community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Leon Anton Sevcik, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his beloved wife, Mardell Sevcik; to his children and their spouses, Patrick and Kaye Sevcik and Lisa and Mark Lindemulder; to his mother, Evelyn Sevcik; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; to his brothers and sister-in-law, Hugo Sevcik and Anthony and Darla Sevcik; to his sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Mark Keilers; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leon Sevcik, Jr. Cook of Colorado ______________________________ Speaker of the House I certify that H.R.
