R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, With the death of J. B. Noland on May 7, 2005, at the age of 93, the community of Hereford has lost a respected citizen, and we join his family and friends in mourning their loss; and WHEREAS, Born December 19, 1911, in Floyd County, Mr. Noland moved with his family to Summerfield in 1917, and he spent his entire adult life working as a farmer and rancher; and WHEREAS, In 1936, he married Beatrice Lawrence, and their union continued to grow in mutual affection and respect until his passing; and WHEREAS, Mr. Noland was a devout member of the community of faith at Summerfield Baptist Church as well as a talented singer, and he enjoyed sharing his musical gifts for many years at the church and as a member of the Golden Age Gospel Quartet, which entertained the elderly in retirement centers and nursing homes; and WHEREAS, He was also active in a number of community groups and fraternal organizations and was a valued member of Hereford Chapter No. 312 of the Order of the Eastern Star, past master of Hereford Masonic Lodge No. 849, a charter member of South Plains Day Light Lodge of Lubbock, a 33-degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of the Royal Order of Scotland, and a member of Khiva Shrine Temple and York Rite Consistery, Crusader Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine; and WHEREAS, Although Mr. Noland will long be missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of J. B. Noland and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his beloved wife of 68 years, Beatrice Noland; to his son, Larry Noland; to his daughters, Linda Kay Carney and Jerre Bea Shultz; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his other family members and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of J. B. Noland.
