H.R. No. 2061


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On May 1, 2005, Pilgrim Rest No. 2 Baptist Church in Golden commemorated 100 years of faithful service to the spiritual needs of its community; and WHEREAS, Combining its centennial celebration with its annual homecoming on the first Sunday in May, the church had much about which to be thankful; Brother Merle Parker, one of the church's former pastors, gave the morning message and celebrants enjoyed a time of sharing and special music from Blue Monday Band Ministry, the Goldenaires, and others; and WHEREAS, Other former leaders of this beloved house of worship are pastors Wayne McKay, Derle Lee, Jonathan Fitzgerald, Gay Polk, Bobby Harris, Louis Strehlow, Clyde Smith, and C. C. Haven; and WHEREAS, For 100 years, Pilgrim Rest No. 2 Baptist Church in Golden has been a blessing in the lives of all who have worshipped as its congregants and to those it has served throughout the community, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the church on this momentous milestone in its rich history; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Brother James Spurgeon and the members of Pilgrim Rest No. 2 Baptist Church of Golden on the church's centennial and extend to all involved sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
