R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Kilgore High School varsity band made an impressive showing at the Region IV UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest at Mount Pleasant on April 7, 2005; and WHEREAS, The award-winning 2004-2005 Kilgore Band includes the following students: Skyla Anderson, Jonathan Breedlove, Erin Camp, Joshua Cantu, Jordan Carlson, Davi Case, Bailey Chapman, Rusty Chapman, Casey Clanahan, Natasha Cline, Craig Cooper, Laura Culpepper, Jeremy Dean, Leigha Dixon, Chasity Dudley, Donavan Duncan, Heather Forth, Jennifer Fried, Steven Gaddis, Kiya Gage, Megan Galaviz, Elizabeth Garza, Trey Garza, Robyn Gates, Ryan Gest, Courtney Glasco, Whitney Glasco, Matthew Green, Alana Hearn, Jacki Hein, David Hodges, Julianna Hodnett, Jerry Joyner, Texana Kenney, Amy Kinkaid, Lacey Krantz, Meagan Kulak, Amy Leveritt, Heidi Leveritt, Sarah Little, Edgar Loredo, Lucero Loredo, Dena Mahan, Claudia Martinez, Preston Miller, Katy Nail, Austin Payne, Bryan Pennington, Laura Perkins, Abraham Requena, Kelwyn Robinson, Mackenzie Sharp, James Sholar, Robert Shook, George Simmons, Gregory Smith, Jamaud Smith, Jared Smith, Glenda Spencer, Paul Springer, Whitney Stewart, Michael Streeter, Travis Streeter, Janice Tolbert, Lucia Villarreal, Amanda Waddle, Gerald Walker, Gregorey Watson, Kyle Weaver, Joseph White, Adam Wiggins, Lajohn Woolridge, and Andrew Wright; and WHEREAS, Under the able direction of Mitchell Smith, these talented musicians earned first-division ratings in both concert and sightreading, qualifying the band for the coveted Sweepstakes Award; the Kilgore program included "March from Second Suite in F for Military Band" by Gustav Holst, "English Country Settings" by Pierre LaPlante, and "Second American Folk Rhapsody" by Clare Grundman; and WHEREAS, The members of the Kilgore varsity band have demonstrated the hard work and commitment to excellence required of quality musicians, and they may take special pride in their achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate band director Mitchell Smith and his Kilgore High School varsity band on earning first-division ratings in the Region IV UIL Concert and Sightreading competitions; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
