H.R. No. 2069
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Rachel S. Alaniz of
Kingsville on December 20, 2004, at the age of 58, brought a
profoundly felt loss to the family and friends of this esteemed
Texan; and
WHEREAS, Born on June 3, 1946, to Gilberto and Beatrice
Flores Salinas, Mrs. Alaniz was a dedicated public servant who,
after serving for five years in the county clerk's office, took on
the role of Kleberg County treasurer in 1999; she was known for her
professionalism, her integrity, and her warm and congenial
relationships with her coworkers and her employees; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Alaniz was also a devoted parishioner of Our
Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and a member of the church's
choir, and she drew great strength and sustenance from her faith;
and
WHEREAS, Cherished by her family and beloved by her
colleagues and the citizens of Kleberg County, Rachel Alaniz is
sorely missed, but this sadness may be tempered by the knowledge
that her life was filled with joyful times, loving moments, and many
meaningful accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Rachel S. Alaniz and
extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband
of 37 years, Joe L. Alaniz; to her daughters, Priscilla Ann Cantu,
Melissa Longoria and her husband, David, and Marisela R. Alaniz; to
her son, Joey Alaniz, Jr., and his wife, Ursela; to her sister, Mary
Ellen Salinas; to her granddaughters, Aleida and Andrea Cantu,
Selina Longoria, and Marina and Dariela Alaniz; to her grandsons,
David Longoria, Jr., and Jose Luis "Tres" Alaniz III; and to her
other relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rachel S.
Alaniz.
