R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories of LaJoy Willhelm of Waco, who died on May 6, 2005, at the age of 88; and WHEREAS, Born on February 8, 1917, in Bend, Mr. Willhelm grew up in a close-knit family with eight siblings; as a young man, he served his country in the role of medic in the Medical Corps during World War II with the Air Force in North Africa; and WHEREAS, Following his return to the states, he attended San Angelo Agricultural College; known to many in his field as "Dr. Willhelm," he was a poultry specialist for Western Hatcheries of Dallas and West Flour Mill in West; and WHEREAS, Mr. Willhelm and the former Oriel Hanson were joined in matrimony on December 28, 1942, in Bend and together they were blessed with a son, Rex; and WHEREAS, Baptized as a Jehovah's Witness in 1966, LaJoy Willhelm was devoted to his faith, his loved ones, and his profession, and he leaves behind a legacy to treasure for those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of LaJoy Willhelm and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 62 years, Oriel Willhelm; to his son, Rex Tarqin Willhelm and his wife, Lorna Marie; to his sister, Christine Hanson; to his nieces and nephews, including Lois and Nelida Willoughby, Viron Dana Largent, and Linda Hurst; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of LaJoy Willhelm.
