R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Angelo State University Rambelles softball team defeated Florida Southern 7-3 at the Seminole County Softball Complex to earn the 2004 NCAA Division II Softball Championship; and WHEREAS, Schooled in the game's fundamentals by Head Coach Travis Scott, the 'Belles completed the season with a stellar 47-11 record; in the championship game, a strong pitching effort by freshman Arin Spence and the dominant hitting of tournament MVP Michelle Hofmann led this outstanding team to the school's first NCAA title in any sport; and WHEREAS, This monumental win would not have been possible without the contributions of all the talented team members, including Stacy Broman, Diana Faulkner, Stephanie Fofi, Lori Hernandez, Claudia Lopez, Jaime McGalliard, Julia Monsivais, Cat Moreno, Andrea Payan, Jessica Stroud, Alexis Wing, and Sarah Woodman; and WHEREAS, The young champions of the ASU Rambelles softball team have distinguished themselves as formidable competitors, having conquered the many challenges they have faced during the season, and it is indeed fitting to honor them for their significant accomplishment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Angelo State University Rambelles softball team on winning the 2004 NCAA Division II Softball Championship and extend to the players and coaches sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
