H.R. No. 2096


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those Texans who give generously of their time and talents in behalf of the greater good are truly deserving of our gratitude and admiration, and Jean Claire Turcotte has distinguished herself as one such individual; and WHEREAS, A native of Victoria, Ms. Turcotte graduated from Martin High School in Laredo before earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&I University in Kingsville; and WHEREAS, Her professional career has been dedicated to the education of others, and she served first as a teacher and later as principal of St. Gertrude School in Kingsville; moreover, Ms. Turcotte's commitment to the St. Gertrude parish has included service as a lector, eucharistic minister, choir member, and cantor and membership in the Altar Society, which she has served as vice president; and WHEREAS, Deeply respected by her fellow citizens, this outstanding Texan has shared her expertise with such worthwhile organizations as the Corpus Christi Diocese Committee on Stewardship, the Robert J. Kleberg County Library Board, the Christus Spohn Kleberg Hospital Advisory Board, and the Bishop's Guild of Corpus Christi, which she previously chaired, and she is also a former president of the Woman's Club of Kingsville and a life member of the organization's South Texas District; and WHEREAS, Ms. Turcotte is the widow of Joseph A. Turcotte, with whom she shared a rewarding marriage and raised five children: Jeanne Claire McDowell, James Garner Turcotte, William Edgar Turcotte, Patricia Lynn Hoffman, and Richard Edward Turcotte; and WHEREAS, Each of us hopes to leave our distinctive mark on the world, and by dedicating herself to the service of others, Jean Turcotte has earned a special place in the hearts of all who are privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Jean Claire Turcotte for the many significant contributions she has made to the betterment of her community as an educator and community leader; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Turcotte as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
