H.R. No. 2099


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A loving family and dear friends celebrate the life of Rodolfo "Rudy" M. Garcia of Falfurrias, who died on April 15, 2005, at the age of 75; and WHEREAS, Born on October 4, 1929, in Brooks County, Mr. Garcia grew up in a family of 10 children; he married Carlota Rodriguez on June 9, 1947, and their marriage was richly blessed with four sons, one daughter, and 13 grandchildren; Mr. and Mrs. Garcia shared a deep love for children and family and a generosity of spirit that led them to welcome other children into their home, and this exceptional couple raised the young people as their own; and WHEREAS, Early in his career, Mr. Garcia worked with Central Mercantile and H-E-B, then continued his family's tradition of farming and ranching; he put in the long days of labor required to care for his cattle herd, prepare his fields, and cultivate his crops; in 1977, he opened Rudy's Feed Store, which he and his children managed until 2003, when he sold the business; and WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia drew strength and sustenance from his deep faith and was a loyal congregant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a favorite resident of the Falfurrias community; and WHEREAS, Throughout his lifetime, Rudy Garcia made a positive difference in the lives of many people, who may find consolation in the memory of countless happy hours spent in his company; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Rodolfo "Rudy" M. Garcia and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his children and their spouses, Richard and Maricella Garcia, Rene and Jessica Garcia, Rudy and Gaylee Garcia, Roy and Lisa Garcia, and Ana Lisa and Eduardo Vela; to his grandchildren; to his brothers and sisters; and to all who mourn the passing of this beloved gentleman; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rodolfo "Rudy" M.
