H.R. No. 2101
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ismael A. Salas has been named the 2004-2005 Teacher
of the Year at Fabens High School, providing an apt occasion to
honor this remarkable educator for his outstanding service to the
youth of the Lone Star State; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso,
where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration,
Mr. Salas holds a business teaching certificate from Sul Ross State
University and is a certified Texas peace officer; and
WHEREAS, This notable gentleman has ably served the students
of Fabens High School since 1996, providing instruction in a
variety of courses, including criminal justice, business computer
information systems, business image management and multimedia,
business ownership, and business law; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Salas is affiliated with the Texas
State Teachers Association, the National Educators Association,
the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, the American
Baseball Coaches Association, and the Educational Testing Service
Technology Rich Environment Committee; he has further
distinguished himself through his mentorship on the Texas eeZone
project, which led him to be a presenter at the U.S. secretary of
education's National Conference on Educational Technology in
Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Ismael Salas embodies the highest ideals of his
profession, and his commitment to excellence has earned him the
lasting respect and admiration of his students and colleagues
alike; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ismael A. Salas on being named the
2004-2005 Teacher of the Year at Fabens High School and extend to
him sincere best wishes for continued achievement; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Salas as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
