R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, United States Army Captain Eric Crawford of Lufkin,
who is serving his country with distinction in Iraq, is a source of
great pride to all who know him; and
WHEREAS, Captain Crawford enlisted in the armed forces while
still in high school; at the age of 17, he exhibited such skilled
leadership that he earned the position of platoon leader, and he was
later accepted into officer training school; he was promoted to
captain before returning to civilian life and work in the insurance
business; and
WHEREAS, This brave Texan was called back to active duty in
July 2004; without hesitation, he quickly put his business and
personal affairs in order and today, as a member of the 445th TC
Company, he carries close to his heart thoughts of his beloved wife,
Terrie, and their two young daughters, Addie and Aubrie; and
WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to
Captain Crawford and to all of the country's military personnel,
for they are called on to bear great, often unimaginable, burdens,
and they render service and sacrifice that is truly beyond measure;
and
WHEREAS, Eric Crawford exemplifies the best qualities in
America's leaders, and his unwavering courage, compassion, and
dedication serve as an example not only to his fellow servicemen and
servicewomen, but to countless Americans; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend Captain Eric Crawford for his service to
his country and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Captain Crawford as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
