H.R. No. 2124
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mary Suarez Tijerina of Raymondville is a beloved
member of her community who is most deserving of special
recognition; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tijerina has devoted much time and energy to
the March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society, and Our Lady of
Guadalupe Church and she was an active den mother for the Girl
Scouts and Boy Scouts; spirited and supportive, she is a dedicated
follower of the junior high school and high school football teams in
Raymondville, and for many years, she could be found in the stands
motivating the team and rallying the fans; in addition, she has
acted as the mistress of ceremonies for countless weddings,
quinceaneras, and anniversaries in the community; and
WHEREAS, Born on August 14, 1933, in Lyford, Mrs. Tijerina
worked for the Raymondville ISD for 27 years as a snack bar manager
and also dedicated more than 25 years of service to the district as
a volunteer cook for annual booster fund-raisers; and
WHEREAS, Supported by her sons, Manuel, Alfredo, Luis,
Alberto, Hector, and Mario, and her daughters, Nena and Norma, Mary
Tijerina is truly a source of inspiration, and her generosity and
kind spirit have brightened the lives of all those who are
privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Mary Suarez Tijerina for her civic service
and commend her for her dedication to the community of
Raymondville; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Tijerina as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
