R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For more than 350 years, Jewish citizens have been
involved in the support and defense of the American republic; and
WHEREAS, Fighting to achieve freedom for the American people
since before the revolution of 1776, they have served the U.S. armed
forces in every conflict and war of this great nation; and
WHEREAS, More than 1 million Jews have served in the United
States military, with some 20,000 making the ultimate sacrifice in
defense of our country; and
WHEREAS, In the late 1800s, the Jewish War Veterans of the
United States of America was established to recognize the
contributions of these brave individuals; and
WHEREAS, Louis Abramson of New Jersey is national commander
of the Jewish War Veterans; a distinguished veteran, he joined the
National Guard in 1948 and served with honor in the Korean War,
attached to the 111th Infantry Division; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Abramson is a featured speaker at the 2005
Departmental Convention of the Jewish War Veterans Department of
Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, and it is appropriate to
take this opportunity to pay tribute to this valorous patriot and
his fellow veterans; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, recognizing the service of the Jewish War Veterans,
hereby welcome Louis Abramson to the Lone Star State, and extend to
him and all participants at the 2005 Departmental Convention
sincere best wishes for a successful conference; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Abramson as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
