R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The tragedy of a young life cut short is a sobering
reminder of the fragility and brevity of our time on this earth, and
it is with deep sorrow that we join in mourning the passing of Marta
Graciela Gonzalez of Rio Grande City on April 25, 2005, at the age
of 30; and
WHEREAS, A loving and devoted mother, daughter, and sister,
Ms. Gonzalez enriched and enlivened the days of her family and
friends; and
WHEREAS, It was during her valiant battle with cancer that
her personal courage found its fullest flowering, and by sharing
the strength of her faith with those around her in her final days,
she offered a moving and inspirational model of grace for her loved
ones; and
WHEREAS, Although her passing is a wound that only time may
heal, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of
all those fortunate enough to have known her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Marta Graciela
Gonzalez and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family:
to her daughter, Marina; to Marina's father, Andy de Leon; to her
parents, Abel N. Gonzalez, Jr., and Graciela Gonzalez; to her
sister and brother-in-law, Melinda and Jorge Barrera; to her
brothers, Abel N. Gonzalez III and Jorge E. Gonzalez; to her
grandmother, Maria Elia Gonzalez; to her niece, Alexia; to her
nephew, Josue; and to her other family members and many friends;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Marta
Graciela Gonzalez.
