H.R. No. 2142
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The tragedy of a life cut short in its prime is a
sobering reminder of the brevity and fragility of life, and it is
with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Johannus Lewis "JoJo"
Faison on May 17, 2005, at the age of 29; and
WHEREAS, A native of Galveston, Mr. Faison attended Hitchcock
High School and the College of the Mainland before graduating from
the Southwest Assembly of Church of God in Christ University in
Waxahachie in 2000; and
WHEREAS, After moving to Hitchcock, he served as a coach in
the Hitchcock ISD, instructing his young charges in the finer
points of football, basketball, and track, and working with the
Hitchcock Red Raiders Little League; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Faison was also a talented athlete himself who
continued to pursue his own career in sports as a member of the
semi-pro Houston Gamblers football team; and
WHEREAS, The countless young people whose lives he touched
will sorely feel his absence in the days to come, as will his family
and many friends, and memories of this caring young man will long
remain with all who have been fortunate to know him; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Johannus Lewis "JoJo"
Faison and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
his daughter, Quaterria Symone Hayes; to his parents, Wanda Faison
and Glen Williams; to his fiancee, Lameko Hennigan; to his sister
and brothers, Roslyne Faison, Hasani Faison, and Christopher
Faison; to his sister-in-law, Tamika Faison; to his grandmothers,
Johnnie Mae Giles and Thelma Jenkins; and to his other relatives and
many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Johannus
Faison.
