R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Aaron Kyle Polanco of Wimberly will graduate with highest honors from the U.S. Naval Academy on May 27, 2005, and it is appropriate to take this opportunity to recognize this exceptional young man for his academic and athletic achievements; and WHEREAS, Mr. Polanco, who completed a double major in quantitative economics and mathematics, plans to attend flight school to train in the U.S. Marine Corps pilot program; a standout athlete at the academy, he was the first Hispanic Texan to serve as captain of the Navy football team and led the Midshipmen to a 10-2 record during his senior season, the team's best season in 99 years; and WHEREAS, With Mr. Polanco at the helm, Navy throttled longtime rival Army by the score of 42-13 in the 105th meeting between the two academies; after the game, he proudly presented a Navy football to President George W. Bush, which was undoubtedly a highlight in the young quarterback's life; and WHEREAS, This talented and dedicated athlete went on to lead the Middies to a 34-19 victory over New Mexico in the Emerald Bowl in December 2004 and was named the game's most valuable player; he was also selected as Navy's team MVP for the 2004 season; and WHEREAS, The son of law enforcement personnel, Mr. Polanco has received a strong moral foundation from his parents, who are justifiably proud of their son; the Wimberly High School graduate is a credit to the U.S. Naval Academy and the State of Texas and is most deserving of special praise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Aaron Kyle Polanco on his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy and extend best wishes to him for continued success and happiness in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Polanco as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
