H.R. No. 2146
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas Tech University men's and women's track
teams set new standards for the school's track program with their
performances at the 2005 Outdoor Big 12 Championships in Manhattan,
Kansas; and
WHEREAS, The men's team captured its first-ever Big 12 title,
recording 149.5 points to earn the victory, while the women's team
finished in third place with 95 points to set a new program high for
conference competition; and
WHEREAS, Under the able guidance of head coach Wes Kittley,
the Red Raiders delivered a number of superlative individual
performances as well as several outstanding team efforts, and each
member of both the men's and women's teams made a valuable
contribution to the teams' overall success; and
WHEREAS, These exemplary student-athletes have brought great
recognition to Texas Tech University, earning the respect and
admiration of the university's students, faculty, and many fans;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Wes Kittley and the members
of the Texas Tech University men's and women's track teams on their
excellent performances at the 2005 Outdoor Big 12 Championships and
extend best wishes to the many individuals who contributed to the
teams' successful seasons.
