R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. Joseph L. LaManna of Oak Cliff is marking 20 years as chairman of Dallas Southwest Osteopathic Physicians, Inc., on July 1, 2005; and WHEREAS, Dallas Southwest Osteopathic Physicians, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, was established in 1983 with funds garnered from the sale of Stevens Park Osteopathic Hospital; and WHEREAS, Dr. LaManna was instrumental in the formation of this outstanding endeavor, and under his able guidance, more than $14 million has been donated to nonprofit agencies, schools, organizations, and projects; and WHEREAS, Embracing a mission to improve the health, education, and welfare of his community, Dr. LaManna has worked to enable programs for senior citizens, services for the physically and mentally disabled, and health care for those in need; in his role as chairman, he has also overseen the distribution of aid for scholarships, police equipment, and fire safety and to build playgrounds, parks, and libraries; and WHEREAS, A respected longtime member of the South Dallas community, this noted physician has enjoyed an exceptional career of service to others; in 1951, he started a family practice in Oak Cliff, and throughout his 50-year practice, Dr. LaManna exemplified the highest qualities of the medical profession; and WHEREAS, Joseph LaManna has touched countless lives in his position as chairman of Dallas Southwest Osteopathic Physicians, Inc., and it is a pleasure to pay tribute to him as he celebrates two decades of distinguished service; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Dr. Joseph L. LaManna on his 20th anniversary as chairman of Dallas Southwest Osteopathic Physicians, Inc., and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. LaManna as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
