R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Dental Clinic of the El Paso City-County Health and Environmental District is making innumerable contributions to the well-being of young Texans; and WHEREAS, Centrally located in downtown El Paso at the Tillman Health Center, the clinic offers quality, affordable dental care to El Pasoans age 21 and younger; since its inception, more than 250,000 individuals have benefited from its services, which range from exams and cleanings to X-rays and fillings; in 2004 alone, the clinic recorded more than 9,000 patient visits and dispensed discounted treatment valued at nearly $900,000; and WHEREAS, In addition to its in-house services, the clinic uses El Paso City Mobile Dental Units to make preventive dental care available throughout the community; moreover, the clinic offers treatment at community centers and participates in a number of outreach programs, including National Dental Month, school- and organization-sponsored health fairs, and school and Head Start screenings; and WHEREAS, By providing those in need with access to dental services, the El Paso City-County Health and Environmental District's Dental Clinic plays a vital role in the health of its community, and its efforts to obtain continuing funding for its operations and staff are truly deserving of support; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend the work of the Dental Clinic of the El Paso City-County Health and Environmental District and express support for efforts to obtain continued funding; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the clinic as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
