R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Danbury High School Lady Panthers emerged from the fierce fray of the 2004 Conference 2A UIL state softball tournament with the school's first state championship in hand; and WHEREAS, Under the guidance of head coach Melissa Hansen, the Lady Panthers epitomized teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship; this remarkable group of athletes closed its season with a 26-5 record and trounced its district opponents by a total score of 172-1; with unparalleled skill, the team limited opponents to a single run in six playoff games; and WHEREAS, Achieving such a lofty team goal required each of the team's talented athletes to perform at the top of her game, and this triumph was an apt reflection of the team's dedication, competitive spirit, and desire to be champions and was an appropriate culmination of many hours of hard work and training; and WHEREAS, With these sweeping achievements, the Lady Panthers have risen to prominence as formidable competitors and have instilled tremendous pride in the students and faculty of Danbury High School; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Danbury High School Lady Panthers softball team and Coach Melissa Hansen on winning the 2004 Conference 2A UIL State Softball Championship and extend to them best wishes for success in all their future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team and Coach Hansen as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
