R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Young Adult Ministry (YAMS) of Blessed Hope
Baptist Church in Houston is hosting a walk-a-thon fund-raiser on
June 11, 2005, at Northshore Park; and
WHEREAS, Not only will the walk-a-thon provide enjoyment for
its participants and promote community involvement, it will also
raise money for the Star of Hope Women and Family Emergency Shelter,
the Depelchin Center, and the Adopt-A-Family program; and
WHEREAS, The young members of this dedicated ministry play a
vital role in the church and in their community; in addition to
planning and implementing the walk-a-thon, their contributions
include working to keep teens off of drugs, conducting safety and
beautification projects, and providing those in need with tutoring,
food, clothing, medical and nutrition information, and holiday
gifts and meals; and
WHEREAS, The sponsors of this year's walk-a-thon have truly
made a firm investment in their community and helped to ensure a
brighter future for area residents, and it is indeed appropriate to
take this opportunity to recognize all those involved in this
significant endeavor; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commend the organizers and participants of the
Young Adult Ministry walk-a-thon fund-raiser and extend to them
sincere best wishes for a successful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for YAMS as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
of Representatives.
