R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Ramiro Bourbois of Mission were greatly saddened by his passing on January 16, 2005, at the age of 69, and we join them in mourning their loss; and WHEREAS, Born on March 8, 1935, Mr. Bourbois married his childhood sweetheart, Emma Garza, shortly after graduating from Mission High School, and their marriage, which endured more than half a century, was blessed with 10 children; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bourbois made his living in the demanding field of professional trucking, both as an employee of various companies and the owner of his own trucking business; he spent many memorable summers working in the fields alongside his children, and though the work was difficult, the time spent with his family was treasured; he also worked for the Hayes-Sammons chemical company and was a principal witness in "Mission's Toxic Legacy," which dealt with chemical contamination that allegedly spread from the plant to South Mission and affected the health of many area residents, including many members of his own family; never bitter about his own failing health, Mr. Bourbois only regretted his inability to spend more time with his beloved wife and children; and WHEREAS, He indeed took great pride and pleasure in his family, and his caring nature was also reflected in his many friendships, which sprang up wherever his work took him; and WHEREAS, His steadfast work ethic and uncomplaining nature carried him through even the toughest of times, and in holding fast to his own ideals, Ramiro Bourbois set an example of integrity that will continue to burn brightly in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ramiro Bourbois and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 52 years, Emma Garza Bourbois; to his children, Virginia, Juan Manuel, Sylvia, Maria Cynthia, Aida Araceli, Leticia Margot, Hector, Ramiro, Jose Francisco, and Santiago; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramiro Bourbois.
