H.R. No. 2218


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The fifth-grade students of Hidalgo Elementary School have nearly completed the 2004-2005 school year, and while reflecting on all they have learned this year, they will no doubt remember with pleasure the field trip they took to visit the State Capitol in Austin; and WHEREAS, With the 79th Texas Legislative Session drawing to a close, the Capitol Complex has been a center of great activity, which provided these young people with an excellent opportunity to witness their state government in action; and WHEREAS, Accompanied by their principal, Olivia Hernandez, their teachers Fabian Perez, Joel Ibanez, and Domingo Gano, and other members of the school community, the students had a chance to see the State Capitol and learn more about the fascinating history of this monument to freedom and democracy; and WHEREAS, The magnificent Capitol is an ideal setting for young and old alike to discover the rich heritage of the Lone Star State and to gain insight into the work of state lawmakers, and it is hoped that the students' visit to the seat of Texas government increased their interest in and awareness of how state laws are passed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend the students of Hidalgo Elementary School for their interest in learning more about Texas state government; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the fifth-grade class at Hidalgo Elementary School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
