R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Honorable Bob Hunter was first elected to serve 
the people of Abilene and Taylor County in the Texas House of 
Representatives in a special election held on August 9, 1986, and 
throughout the ensuing years he has proven time and again just how 
special he is; and
	WHEREAS, Now representing Nolan and Taylor Counties, Dr. 
Hunter shares his abilities in the current legislative session as 
vice chairman of the House Committee on Regulated Industries and as 
a member of the House Committee for Government Reform; this genial 
gentleman also belongs to the House Republican, Rural, and Tourism 
Caucuses, as well as the Texas Legislative Caucus for Missing &
Exploited Children, the steering committee of the House Research 
Organization, which he chairs, and the House Veterans Coalition, 
which he previously chaired; and
	WHEREAS, The five-term chair of the House Committee on State, 
Federal, and International Relations, Dr. Hunter has made the 
acquaintance of people from across the globe, and his friendliness 
and openness in his encounters with visiting dignitaries have
helped our international guests to learn that everything is, 
indeed, big in Texas, including opportunity; and
	WHEREAS, With a record of service to this state as long as the 
Rio Grande, Dr. Hunter has also cochaired the House Select 
Committee on NAFTA and GATT, served as the Texas vice chair for the 
American Legislative Exchange Council and its Trade and 
Transportation Task Force, and served on the Economic and Cultural 
Development Committee for the National Conference of State 
Legislatures, the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee for the 
Southern Legislative Conference, and the International Committee 
for the Council of State Governments; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Hunter is senior vice president emeritus of 
Abilene Christian University, where this well-read "Wildcat" has 
shared his expertise since 1956, and he has also cemented his 
reputation in Abilene as a habitual do-gooder through his 
involvement with many worthy local organizations ranging from the 
United Way and Meals on Wheels Plus to the Mental Health Association 
and the West Texas Autism Center; and
	WHEREAS, For nearly two decades, Bob Hunter has helped the 
members of this chamber build positive national and international 
relationships while treating his fellow Texans pretty darn good as 
well; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby honor Dr. Bob Hunter for his exceptional public 
service and officially recognize him as a goodwill ambassador of 
this chamber for the diplomacy and hospitality he has shown 
individuals from throughout this nation and countries the world 
over in his capacity as a state representative.
