R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the profound
sadness felt by the family and friends of David and Carole Mahnke of
Palacios, who died on May 4, 2005; and
WHEREAS, Longtime residents of Brenham, the couple were
natives of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they were married on August
10, 1963; and
WHEREAS, Born on May 12, 1944, Mrs. Mahnke graduated from
Muskego High School in Muskego, Wisconsin; in recent years, she was
an active volunteer for Pets for Pals, a local animal shelter, and a
dedicated member, along with her husband, of Our Redeemer Lutheran
Church of Palacios; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mahnke was born on April 22, 1942, and graduated
from Wisconsin Lutheran High School; he was a financial advisor for
Texas Financial, which provides investment advice and insurance to
numerous residents in the Coastal Bend area, and a former member of
the Brenham Lions Club; and
WHEREAS, Although they will be greatly missed, Mr. and Mrs.
Mahnke will long be remembered for their adventurous spirit and for
the kindness and generosity they bestowed on all who were
privileged to know them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the lives of David and Carole
Mahnke and extend deepest sympathy to the members of their family:
to their daughters, Doreen Marie Hughes and her husband, David,
Darlene Michelle Stone and her husband, Eric, and Denise Melanie
Romo and her husband, Joel; to their son, David Michael "Mike"
Mahnke; to their grandchildren, Dylan Hughes, Dawson Hughes, Emily
Stone, Robert Mueller, Johnson Mueller, and Andrew Mueller; to her
brother, Robert "Bob" Hemke and his wife, Judy; to his sisters,
Judith Nimmer and her husband, Donald, Kathleen McDonald and her
husband, James, and Kay Wielgosh and her husband, Patrick; to his
brother William "Bill" Mahnke and his wife, Ruth; and to their other
relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for their family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of David and
Carole Mahnke.
