R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Yolanda Gonzalez is retiring from her position as principal of Miller High School, bringing to a close an exemplary tenure with the Corpus Christi Independent School District that has spanned 34 years; and WHEREAS, This distinguished educator has served in her present position for four years and made invaluable contributions to the school, including her key role in the expansion of the career center in an effort to encourage more students to attend college; ever mindful of building a positive learning environment where a student's self-esteem is strengthened, Ms. Gonzalez has earned the lasting respect and friendship of teachers and students alike; and WHEREAS, Previous to her time at Miller, she had been the district's director of human resources and then director of career and technology; she also had served as the principal of Los Encinos Elementary, where her efforts played an instrumental role in the school's status as a national exemplary campus, and as principal of Cunningham Middle School; and WHEREAS, Yolanda Gonzalez is a testament to her noble profession and has helped countless young Texans develop much-needed personal and academic skills, and it is appropriate to take this opportunity to recognize her for her notable achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby commend Yolanda Gonzalez on her 34 years of outstanding service in education and extend to her sincere best wishes for a happy retirement; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
