R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Tressa Cook of Clint has attained the highest
commendation of the Girl Scouts of the USA, the Gold Award, and she
was honored at a special ceremony held on May 7, 2005; and
WHEREAS, By attaining this prestigious accolade, Ms. Cook has
realized a worthy goal she set for herself more than 10 years ago;
to achieve the Gold Award, this outstanding young woman met
requirements that promote community service, personal growth,
positive values, and leadership skills; and
WHEREAS, With fellow Gold Award recipient Cherity Pierce, Ms.
Cook planned and implemented a special Girl Scout Gold Award
project that involved creating a mural for a wall of Clint High
School that depicts both positive and negative choices that face
young people; by painting the mural, Ms. Cook and Ms. Pierce hope to
brighten the school and reach every student with the empowering
message that each person may choose to pursue success; and
WHEREAS, Tressa Cook has exhibited maturity, dedication, and
insight in pursuit of her goals, and she is most deserving of praise
for her recent achievement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Tressa Cook on her receipt of the
Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her best wishes for the coming
years; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Cook as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
