R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Brandon Miller, the 2005 salutatorian of City View High School in Wichita Falls, has been named a 2005 Coca-Cola Scholar and the recipient of a $20,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholar Foundation; and WHEREAS, The Coca-Cola Scholar program recognizes high school seniors who model character, leadership, and motivation to serve and succeed, and Mr. Miller is the first student from Wichita Falls to earn the prestigious honor; and WHEREAS, This exceptional young man served as student body president and treasurer of the National Honor Society, and he played varsity basketball; one of eight children, he also worked while in high school to help with family finances, and he bought his first car with his own money; and WHEREAS, Building on his record of impressive achievements, he plans to attend the University of North Texas at Denton to study accounting in a five-year program that will allow him to earn his bachelor's degree, master's degree, and the qualification to sit for the CPA exam; and WHEREAS, Mr. Miller is a source of tremendous pride to his family, school, and community, and he truly deserves special recognition for his outstanding accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Brandon Miller on graduating as the 2005 salutatorian of City View High School and on being named a Coca-Cola Scholar; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Miller as an expression of high regard and best wishes by the Texas House of Representatives.
