A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the exception from required public disclosure of the
name of an applicant for the position of city manager of certain
home-rule municipalities.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 552, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 552.145 to read as follows:
Sec. 552.145. EXCEPTION: NAME OF APPLICANT FOR CITY
MANAGER OF CERTAIN HOME-RULE MUNICIPALITIES. The name of an
applicant for the position of city manager of a home-rule
municipality having a population of more than one million and
operating under a council-manager form of government is excepted
from the requirements of Section 552.021. The city council,
however, must give public notice of the name or names of the
finalists being considered for the position before the 21st day
before the date of the meeting at which a final action or vote is to
be taken on the employment of a person to fill the position.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
