A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the training required for certain county jailers.                 
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 1701.310, Occupations Code, is amended 
by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
	(f)  In addition to the preparatory training program 
required by Subsection (a), the commission by rule shall require a 
person appointed as a county jailer in a county with a population of 
500,000 or more to complete 160 hours of commission-approved 
training not later than the second anniversary of the date the 
person was appointed.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
